Detailed Itinerary

  • Very early we will pass by your hotel in Cusco to transfer us to the train station in Ollantaytambo.
  • The train will take us to Km 104, where the Inca Short Trail officially begins.
  • After registering at the checkpoint we will begin the hike by visiting the archaeological site of Chachabamba, formerly used as a ceremonial and access control center to Machu Picchu.
  • We will continue to ascend stone paths surrounded by cloud forest until we reach Wiñay Wayna, one of the most spectacular archaeological sites of the entire Inca road network.
  • After lunch we will continue to Inti Punku (Puerta del Sol), the historic entrance to Machu Picchu used by the ancient pilgrims. From this point you will enjoy an unforgettable panoramic view of the citadel before descending to the main entrance.
  • Afterwards we will take the bus to Aguas Calientes to rest in the hotel.

  • After breakfast we will board one of the first buses to Machu Picchu.
  • We will take a guided tour of approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, touring the main authorized sectors according to the circuit assigned at your entrance.
  • The guide will explain the history, architecture and function of the temples, squares, agricultural terraces and ceremonial constructions of the citadel.
  • Then you will have free time to take photographs or, if you booked in advance, take the hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (optional and subject to availability).
  • Finally we will return by bus to Aguas Calientes to board the train to Ollantaytambo and continue by private transport to Cusco.
