Description

Discover the lost city of the Incas on a challenging hike through the stunning Apurimac Canyon.

The Choquequirao Trek 4 Days is one of the most spectacular hiking trails in Peru and an excellent alternative for those who want to discover a large Inca archaeological complex away from the crowds.

Located above the mountains overlooking the deep Apurímac Canyon, Choquequirao was an important political, ceremonial and agricultural center of the Inca Empire. Currently only a part of the site has been restored, which gives it an authentic and adventurous character that many travelers consider even more special than Machu Picchu.

For four days you will tour ancient trails, cross one of the deepest canyons in America, camp under starry skies and explore an archaeological complex where it is possible to walk for hours without finding large groups of visitors.

If you are looking for nature, history and a true expedition in the Andes, this is one of the best trekkings that Peru offers.

  • Tour the spectacular Apurímac Canyon.

Questions & Answers

Yes. Although it does not present technical steps, the route requires good physical condition due to the long descents and ascents through the Apurímac Canyon. Many hikers consider it more demanding than the Inca Trail.

It is not essential, but it is recommended to have good physical condition and experience in long distance walks.

The dry season, between April and October, offers better conditions for trekking, with less chance of rain and more stable trails.

Compared to Machu Picchu, Choquequirao receives far fewer visitors, allowing you to explore the site with greater peace of mind and enjoy a much more exclusive experience.
